1. How much does a yacht delivery cost?
The delivery fee depends on variables such as the type and length of the boat, the route, the season and the duration of the passage. That is why, instead of a fixed price list, we prepare a quote tailored to each boat. When you fill in our quote form, we send you pricing that clearly shows an itemised breakdown of costs and exactly what the service includes.
3. Who decides the route?
The route is planned by the captain in charge of the delivery. The safest route is chosen after assessing the type of boat, weather and sea conditions, weather windows and supply stops. We share the plan with you before departure, and if you have preferences such as an arrival date, we take them into account without compromising safety at sea. We keep you regularly informed throughout the delivery.
4. Does the boat need to be insured?
Yes, your yacht must be insured for the planned passage. Since most owners already have insurance for their boat, this is rarely an issue.
2. Which captain carries out the delivery?
Every member of our delivery team holds a commercial yacht master licence. Our captain pool includes captains with official certificates ranging from 149 GRT yacht master to unlimited yacht master. For each delivery, we assign the captain whose qualifications best suit the route, the type of boat and the sailing conditions. We share the CVs of the assigned captain and crew with you before departure.
5. Does my boat need to be ready for delivery?
Your boat must be seaworthy and fit for the planned passage. When our captain arrives on board, they carry out a thorough inspection, checking the engine, rigging, electrical and navigation systems and safety equipment. If anything is found that would affect departure, we resolve it together with you before setting off. All life-saving equipment must be on board and within its expiry dates. We also send you a list of the documents required for the passage before the delivery. This way, you can plan your preparations with ease and won’t find anything missing on departure day.
6. Do you deliver both sailing yachts and motor yachts?
Yes. Our team includes certified captains experienced in handling both sailing yachts and motor yachts. For each delivery, we assign a captain suited to the type of boat.
7. How does payment work?
To confirm the delivery in our schedule, we take a 20% deposit together with the signed contract. We collect 40% of the delivery fee, plus the expense budget itemised in the quote, 15 days before departure. The remaining balance, along with any difference in expenses, is paid once the delivery is complete. Because we share every expense item in writing at the quotation stage, you won’t face any surprise costs along the way.
8. Are there extra charges if there is a delay?
A daily surcharge applies in situations beyond our captain’s control that prevent the passage from starting or continuing. Examples include a structural fault on the boat, the boat not being seaworthy, or the documents required for the passage not being complete. As we share the list of required documents in advance, this rarely happens. We do not charge for weather-related delays.
9. Can I join the voyage as the owner?
Of course you can. Especially with a newly delivered boat, the voyage is a valuable opportunity to get to know your boat and its systems up close. Sailing alongside our captain, you can learn how your boat behaves and develop your own seamanship at the same time.
